ABOUT FIBER FESTIVAL

FIBER Festival is an Amsterdam based meeting place for everyone interested in contemporary audiovisual art, experimental electronic music, and daring conversations in relation to technological developments and societal issues.

Following a successful 10th anniversary edition, the FIBER Festival returns for its 11th edition from 28 to 31 May 2026 at various locations in Amsterdam. In recent years, the annual festival has grown into a dynamic meeting and presentation place for groundbreaking crossovers between multisensory, audiovisual performing arts, media art and advanced digital art.

The programme offers you a wide range of artistic experiences and research-based conversations, including A/V performances, club nights, installation art, sound art concerts and in-depth artist talks highlighting contemporary art practices and desired stories and realities.

THEME: Fragile Forces

The concept of fragility contains an interesting tension: it is something that can be easily damaged, can crack or shatter into pieces. It is a state of tension, which, once broken, may be impossible to return to. It urges us to treat something with care, in the knowledge that what lies behind it may be difficult to restore or may never return. At the same time, it can be synonymously used for something that possesses material, cultural and ecological beauty and vitality, but is unable to protect itself effectively against brute force.

For the 2026 festival, FIBER will explore the theme Fragile Forces as a source of collective strength. Not to see fragility as weakness, but to highlight that tension, sensitivity and softness are a powerful, alluring force. With this in mind, we ask: what does it mean to listen, perform, and play in relation to fragility? What kinds of forces can instil resilience, when something seems beyond repair?
