Whatever the Weather (Live)

Under her ambient-adjacent alias, Whatever The Weather, Loraine James moves beyond percussive club music into textural, impressionistic, and inward sound explorations. Here, keyboard improvisations and vocal experimentation take precedence over rhythm, shaping immersive atmospheres that shift from gentle sunshowers to hailstorms of steely textures, from drifting static to sweltering heat. Arising from James’ favoring of hardware over software, the project’s singular sound foregrounds tone, timbre, and space, offering a contemplative and unpredictable listening experience that contrasts and complements her club-oriented work.

About the artist

London-born Loraine James developed her musicality through her mother’s eclectic taste and the city’s multicultural soundscape.
