About the artist

Slowfoam is Berlin-based Madelyn Byrd’s all-encompassing music project, spanning sound art, DJing, label work, and education. Interweaving the personal, political, and mythical, Slowfoam explores displacement and (re)connection across spatial and somatic dimensions. Queering the edges of leftfield, ambient, and experimental music, their practice fuses drones, electroacoustics, field recordings, voice, and sound design into immersive, genre-defying sound worlds. Drawing on hydrofeminism, neuroaesthetics, microbiology, ecology, and post-capitalist thought, Slowfoam crafts reflective, uncanny spaces that reveal the magic of the in-between. Their debut LP, Transcorporeal Portal (2024, Somewhere Press), is accompanied by releases on Mappa, Lillerne, Knekelhuis, Jungle Gym Records, and Archaic Vaults.
