About the artist
Bint Mbareh is a sound researcher with a focus on water in Palestine. Tracing the physical and conceptual parallels between sound and water waves, her practice explores forms of dissolution – between bodies, borders, and temporalities – and considers how collective sounding can become a mode of immersion, akin to being held within a body of water. Mbareh’s work challenges settler-colonial epistemologies by foregrounding Palestinian ways of knowing, engaging practices such as rain-invoking music and shrine pilgrimage as sites where sound, spirituality, and political resistance converge.
